ICAR also known as India Council of Agricultural Research is the conducting body of all ICAR Exams. ICAR is a competitive exam conducted for the admissions in Bachelor Degree Programmes in Agriculture and allied subjects of various participating Agricultural Universities.
The scores of the entrance exam will be used for admission to 15% seats in Agricultural Universities for Bachelors in Agriculture degree programme and all the seats of ICAR Deemed Universities for the session 2015-16. The Universities accepting the entrance exam score are:
- CAU, Imphal
- 5 ICAR Deemed Universities.
- NDRI, Karnal
- IARI, New Delhi
- IVRI, Bareilly
- SHIATS, Allahabad
- CIFE, Mumbai
- 4 Central Universities which have agriculture faculty
- Banaras Hindu University, Banaras
- Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh (for PG only)
- Vishwa Bharti University, West Bengal
- Nagaland University, Kohima
- 59 State Agricultural, Horticulture, Veterinary and Fishery Universities.
Admission in Agriculture Universities
The Entrance exam will enable students to take admission in 11 Bachelors programmes, each with 4 years duration. The student can select one stream at the time of application form submission and the selection made cannot be altered later.
Any Indian student who appeared or is appearing in class 12 or equivalent exam with PCM/PCB is eligible to apply for ICAR Exam. The age of applicant should be in between 17 to 23 years (relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit for SC/ST/PC candidates). Class 12 students who have studied Agriculture but not Physics & Chemistry can get admission in State Agriculture Universities in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. If someone wants admission in Universities of Non-Hindi Speaking States, in that case the candidate must have cleared English as a core subject in class 12.
Application form can be filled by either mode i.e. Online or Offline. Completely filled form by the candidate in their own handwriting along with all other documents and attachments mentioned in the information brochure should be submitted to the Controller of Examination on or before February 23, 2015 by Speed/Registered Post. For filling the form online, the candidates need to go to the official website and fill online application for AIEEA UG-2015, and the fee for the same can be paid either by Bank Challan of Syndicate bank or by making inline payment using Credit/debit card. The application fee is Rs. 250 for SC/ST/PC candidates and Rs. 500 for General/ OBC/ UPS candidates.
Selection & Seat Allotment
The selection and seat allotment will be done strictly on the bases of the rank or merit obtained by the candidate and the availability of seats as per the choices marked by the candidates at the time of submitting their forms. Seat allotment will be done as per the counselling schedule assigned to them on the basis of their rank. The result of ICAR 2015 will be declared in the 3rd week of May.
Those students who take admission in universities outside their Domiciled state will be awarded National Talent Scholarship based on the AIEEA-UG Exam.
